I was ecstatic when my friend Mary Lou first shared her shop with me! Her prints are sooo unique and adorable, but I especially love the different cutouts she uses… from children’s books to vintage maps… and she has a variety of silhouettes to match your favorite doggie breed!
{Meet the Shop Owner}
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Lou, short for Mary Lou. I am a photographer, crafty person, love to design, wanna-be surfer, eat lots of desserts, kiss doggies, play basketball and I like experiment with random things daily.
2) What inspired you to start your etsy shop?
I have a huge love of animals ever since our dog scratch, who is named after my DJ husband, came into my life. I work for the humane society of southern arizona part time, volunteer as well as organize many pet events locally. My mission is to find animals their forever home one home at a time. Adoption is so important and it’s something that a lot of people don’t know much about. My dog silhouettes were an inspiration from my love for dogs and my collection of old vintage books. They are such great unique pieces and I love to do things that are custom so they are more meaningful to the owners. They cannot be replicated so it adds to the charm of the piece as well.
3) What’s the best trick you’ve taught a dog to do?
Our dog scratch can do about a dozen tricks, he’s so smart! Recently I was dog sitting my friends dachshund that is four years old and he just knew how to sit. I taught him down and rollover in the first day he was at our house! Dogs are so receptive, they always can surprise you! My favorite though is our dog scratch can do “bang”- you point your finger and say bang and he falls over, it’s always a show stopper.
4) What do you like to do in your leisure time?
Pretty much anything you can think of. I started my etsy shop because I had a lot of free time at home since I currently work part time. But I love to try new recipes, sew, go to the beach, play sports, and the list continues! My biggest thing is to be productive and stay positive and happy with my life.
5) So I hear you are quite the cupcake creator, what’s your favorite flavor that you’ve made?
I like to make unusual flavors of cupcakes, something you can’t buy in the store. Recently I made a smores cupcake and the marshmallow frosting was just amazing. It was so good! I think in another life I was meant to be a baker- maybe even this life…you never know what’s next!
