One Pearl Button was one of the VERY FIRST blogs I followed, ever!  I first found out about her blog through her OPB Sew Along projects.  It was at a time when I was a beginner at sewing so I didn’t feel comfortable following along with the project just yet, but I did follow along with her blog and I’m so glad I did!  I also felt connected with Alli as she is really into photography, Polaroid specifically, and I was just getting into photography as well at the time.  I even bounced a few questions off of her when I thrifted my own Polaroid that had some film issues~!  I am so glad that Alli decided to open up a shop as well so that her talent could be shared with the world!!

{MEET THE SHOP OWNER}

1) Tell us a little bit about yourself.  How did you come up with your blog name?
I’m a graduate student working on my Ph.D. in Roman archaeology.   I love photography, particularly Polaroid photography, thrifting for vintage treasures, and crafts of all kinds – sewing, knitting, crochet – the list goes on!  I try to do something creative everyday; my life feels incomplete without it.  My blog name, One Pearl Button, refers to the large button collection my mom had while I was growing up (most of it has now been passed on to me). The mother of pearl buttons were always my favorites, and I never got sick of sorting through them.  When I started my blog, the name popped into my head right away, and it stuck.

2) What is your favorite blog post that you have written?
Oh my, hard question!  I’ve been at this for awhile now and have written A LOT of posts.  Recently, I’ve posted a couple of tutorials that I think are a lot of fun – one for fuax gilded votive cups and another for magnetic Polaroid picture frames.  Both involve Sharpies, one of my absolute favorite crafting supplies.  I also always love Friday “Nice Things” posts, in which I gather up my favorite posts (typically tutorials) from all over the internet that week.  So much inspiration!

3) All of your photography is so lovely, where do you draw your inspiration from?
Aw, thank you! My inspiration comes from so many places.  My family and friends are number one, and my favorite thing to photograph.  Light is also incredibly inspiring for me, especially when I’m working with Polaroid.  Polaroids capture light so uniquely – I’m always in search of the perfect light, filtering through the blown glass windows in my apartment or through the leaves of a tree.  Of course, the internet and blogs are a big source of inspiration, as well.  Seeing gorgeous photos taken by others always gives me the itch to grab my camera and start shooting!

4) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mint chocolate chip!  I could make entire meals out of mint chocolate chip ice cream!
