Bright Colors Of Summer

Top: Madewell | Skirt: Macy’s | Shoes c/o B.A.I.T. Footwear | Necklace: Giveaway win on Simply Bold

So Summer totally used to be my favorite season… until I started living in Missouri and working.  Growing up, Michigan summers were always beautiful.  The weather lingered around the 70-90s and rarely got up to 100.  And summer also meant a break from school.  A long break.  Why can’t we get summer breaks at work?  I think we should start a petition for it.  Who’s with me?

This outfit is probably my favorite work appropriate outfit of the summer season so far.  It’s got pattern mixing, a knee length pencil skirt, fun heels and the most popular bubble necklace of the moment.  Call me crazy, I actually really like the sound of the metal clanging against metal on the necklace as I walk from cubicle to conference room.  Makes me feel important and heard.  ;)

What’s your favorite thing about this Summer so far?

  1. I love that, “Makes me feel important and heard.” So true for me also! People hear you coming and they know you’re important! I want a top like that- so easy breezy in the summer.

  2. Such a colorful outfit! Love the print and all the colors on the skirt, and how you’ve created a very casual and summery outfit but also very put together and chic for work!

  3. Oh my gosh, I LOVE this outfit!! You look so bright and cheery and happy! This is why I love fashion – you’re obviously having fun and looking great while doing it!

  4. Thus far my favorite thing has been getting to use the pool. However, the weather’s getting cooler so now I’m just ready for fall.

  5. FABULOUS outfit! Seriously…I love this print mixing and what a fun/vibrant work appropriate outfit. I have a similar top that’s sleeveless and now I want to pair it with a fun floral skirt like you have here. Love your blog, thanks for checking mine out!

  6. CUTE! i love stripes and florals together. pretty colors. Michigan summers are so beautiful, i will definitely miss them if we end up moving out of state! this summer has been unusually hot, but it’s still been nice for the most part.

  7. I remember my consulting days and having to go to STL since Boeing has a facility there. It was dire misery so I hope you are hanging in there with this awful heat.

  8. This is great pattern mixing! Pattern mixing scares me to death, but you pulled it off and made it work appropriate.

My favorite thing so far this summer has just been relaxing, enjoying the long sunny days, and hanging by the pool on the weekends. Heather

  9. Love your office appropriate colors for work! My fav thing about summer is that everyone’s pretty relaxed at work and it seems like everyone’s at 70-80% because everyone’s in vacation mode. I like that a lot!
