1) Please tell us a little bit about yourself and how you decided to start up shop?
My family has encouraged me to be creative for as long as I can remember. In fact, I still have the drawings and paintings they saved from when I was just 2 years old! One of my earliest memories is of my Amma (grandma) knitting…. it seemed whenever there was a spare minute she had those needles in her hands, creating the most beautiful garments for our family. She taught me how to knit and sew when I was in elementary school, and I am grateful to have learned from someone so skilled and passionate. Over the years I’ve gone through creative waves- often changing things up and craving to new crafts whether it be sculpting, mosaic, graphic design, etc. But I always seem to come back to knitting and sewing. It’s where my heart is.

In 2009 my daughter was born. Turned off by the common mass-produced pink, frilly, overly-girly baby clothes I quickly realized that buying vintage and making clothes for her was the only way to go. Over the past few years friends and family gave me the encouragement to take it to the next level, and this past August I took the plunge. I said ‘farewell’ to my day job and took Elskan on full time!

2) Where do you draw your inspiration from?
My daughter Luna is my number one inspiration. She is fun, hilarious, creative, kind, and has the most beautiful spirit. I know I’m on the right track when I finish sewing something and she asks if she can keep it J

3) What set’s your shop apart from others?
Every item is carefully hand-crafted and made to last, so that they may be treasured as a modern heirloom piece and handed down through the next generation. I believe in quality craftsmanship and spending that extra bit of time to make my garments as durable as possible. I pour my heart and soul into each and every thing I create.

4) What is your favorite dessert?
Mmmm….that would definitely be Gelato! Pistachio and coconut are my favorites.
