5 Tips On How To Save Time Cleaning by lifestyle blogger Sandy A La Mode

I have to admit, my house is not the cleanest house you will ever see. I’m a busy mama, working full time, running a blog and a lipstick business… and I want to spend time with my kids. I usually show the positive clean happy parts of my life, but let me tell you, my house is usually very messy! Clothes everywhere, paper shreds from Austin’s pretend garbage truck trash all over the floor, dishes piled up, stacks of random stuff piled everywhere. :/ I’ve seriously toyed with the idea of getting a house cleaner, but I feel like you always have to clean up your house before they actually come to clean and gosh, that sounds like a lot of work too. Sometimes I miss the old days when my parents did all the cooking and cleaning for me! Adulting is hard, responsibility is a beast, but I know that I have to really try harder to set an example for my kids, or else they may end up like me. Lucky for me though, my kids like to fight me for the Swiffer Sweeper and brooms, we’ll just allow that to happen for this moment in time. But anyways, over the past few months and with my friend Jill who is a professional organizer, I’ve learned a few tricks on how to save time with cleaning which will make it a less daunting task in the end!

1. Organize a little each day. Set a 15-30 minute timer, turn on some music, and have the whole family clean together.

2. Use products that will make your life easier. For floors, I use Swiffer Sweeper Dry to pick up crumbs and dirt and then go over with Swiffer Sweeper Wet to make the floors shiny and new again. ADULTING IS HARD, BUT SWIFFER MAKES IT EASY. Now 18 itself, Swiffer is on a mission to show consumers how to ease those key lifestyle adulting moments. With Swiffer, you can live a in a clean house without spending your life cleaning it.
3. Clean as you go (as to prevent build up). Wipe up kitchen messes, scrub down stovetops and countertops. It’s easier to clean right when messes are made vs. letting things build up. It will end up taking longer to clean if product gets built up.

4. Tackle one more room or area a week. When you have the idea in your head that you need to clean the whole house, it can be overwhelming. And sometimes when I get overwhelmed, I just ignore it all! So being able to say, let’s deep clean the kitchen this week or let’s clean bathrooms another week makes your goals more attainable and you are more likely to actually do them.
5. Don’t be afraid to throw things away. Lucky for me, my son Austin is OBSESSED with trash and recycling so if there is any chance for him to throw something away, HE IS ON IT. This has been really helpful in trying to declutter, especially for potentially moving to a new house soon!

I know you are all probably way more neat freaks than I am, so I want to hear it, what are your tips on how to save time cleaning???
