5 Travel Hacks For Traveling With Little Ones with Baby Jogger by lifestyle blogger Sandy A La Mode

Is it bad that we only just got back from vacation a few weeks ago and I’m already dreaming of the next trip? We recently went to California with our two kiddos and it was seriously so fun. This isn’t our first rodeo traveling with two kids, nor are we really seasoned travel experts either, but we’ve done it a few times. The best really is the excitement that my kids have for plane travel, being out of school, spending time with their parents (duh!), and experiencing new things. And I have to admit, my favorite part of traveling is seeing the world and experiences through their eyes. I know that with summertime and more regular warm weather, a lot of you will be taking more vacations soon, so I just wanted to share a few travel hacks I have found helpful for us.

Five Travel Hacks for Traveling with Little Ones

  1. Be smart and save space where you can with packing. Finding different layering options for clothes will help you save space. For example, for chillier nights, I packed a grey cardigan for Vivian that really could go with any outfit she was wearing (and was worn across multiple nights). I tend to also pack more neutral colored shoes that would go with more outfits, instead of multiple shoes to coordinate with every outfit.
  2. Bring snacks and entertainment for the flight / road trip. I feel like this is one thing our family has down well. We bring their empty bottles and fill them with milk or water before getting on the plane and then allow the kids to get a drink when on the plane. Being hydrated is super important, especially when traveling. We fill bags with snacks and bring pouches. I make sure the kids are eating and drinking at takeoff and landing to try and prevent their ears from hurting. Also – each child has their own tablet full of shows and headphones.
  3. Bring a lightweight, compact stroller. Basically you should try to minimize in all areas of your travel, so finding a stroller that is lightweight is key. You will have to open and close it many times and lug it around to different places. The Baby Jogger City Tour Stroller has been a great option for us, get this – it folds up to fit into a bag that will fit into an overhead compartment on an airplane. Say what? Yes. I love that it’s light, compact and doesn’t compromise in space underneath the stroller for storing things. When unfolded it’s also at a great height for our five-year-old son to push around our two-year-old daughter. I also love the parent console accessory and found it really useful when we went to Legoland. We were able to store maps, phones, drinks, and toys all inside of it.
  4. Bring plastic bags. Once we have worn clothes for the day, at the end of the day, I usually put them in plastic bags. That makes it super easy to separate the clean versus dirty clothes and makes doing laundry a ton easier after your trip.
  5. Ask older siblings to help. I touched on this above, but Austin absolutely loves pushing Vivian around in her stroller. I think it gives him a sense of control, and it’s just fun. He also carries his own backpack which we fill with both the kids toys and snacks. Both of these things really take a load off of us since we also have a million other bags to carry and things to manage and be aware of when traveling.
