Hi friends! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve been a Flavors To Follow but don’t worry, I didn’t forget about it. In my two year blogiversary feedback, many of you said that you loved these posts so I felt like it was about time I owed you one. This week’s current obsession is color blocking. This trend has been around for a couple months now but I’ve finally just got around to embracing it. It’s basically where you pair a few bold colors and wear them together, or the colors can appear in a single item. There’s so much you can do with this as the color combinations are endless! Some of my faves are turquoise + aqua, black + white + coral, cobalt + turquoise, neons + neutrals and green + yellow! Here’s a few items I have found and love!
1 These DSW black pumps with a touch of red (and blue) hot!
2 Loving the yellow and green pairing of this Nine West satchel. I think it’s about time I buy a new bag, don’t ya think? Who’s with me?
3 This Ayca knit scarf is quite the beauty and sure to keep you warm too in these cold winter days.

Hi friends! It’s almost the weekend and I am SO excited. This has been a busy week at work and I’m just looking forward to unwinding and relaxing. We have a game night and another Thanksgiving dinner planned with friends (can’t wait for more pumpkin desserts), once Baby a la mode comes it will be a lot harder to just go hang out with friends on a whim, ya know? 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you decided to open up shop?
I am married to my best friend and we have a 3 month old little girl, Abigail! We live in a small town in the southern California mountains called Wrightwood. Abigail comes to work with me everyday- complete with a pack and play set up in the corner J and we occasionally walk to work!
I opened Maple in June of 2008 and we just launched mapleboutique.com which I could not be more excited about! I graduated from FIDM (the fashion institute of design and merchandising) and majored in Merchandise Marketing. While going to school I worked at a hip little boutique and learned that was what I wanted to do! From there I worked on the other side of fashion as an Account Executive for Kensie Clothing. My territory was 13 states, I worked various trade shows and traveled to work closely with specialty stores from all over and still my desire to one day open my own store was strong! In 2008 my dream came true and I have now been the proud owner for 3 years!
2) What is your favorite color combination?
I am really loving sea foam mint and deep plum together! I use to be vary matchy- matchy but as my sense of fashion has developed I am liking unexpected twists more and more- like a pop of color!
3) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ooh chocolate! I am definitely a chocolate kind of gal!

Today, I am super excited to introduce you to a new online boutique that just opened up, Stitched + Adorned! I first found out about this beautiful shop through a friend (thanks Yuko!) and when I saw the compilation of items and reasonable prices I got super excited. I could seriously see myself wearing each one of the clothing and accessory pieces and wearing them proud. Read on to learn a little bit more about Karen, the mastermind behind this shop… and keep reading to the bottom for a fun fall giveaway!
1) Tell us a little bit about your shop and how it got started?
I love to shop! I don’t discriminate, I will shop anywhere. But I keep running into the same problem; I can’t afford to buy designer all the time and I’m always worried that someone else will be wearing the same F21 dress! So here I am… I want to offer style, comfort, along with value to girls just like me!
2) What sets your store apart from other online boutiques?
There are a lot of online websites out there who offers “vintage inspired” and “affordable clothing”. Let’s be honest, we all love everything “vintage inspired”, but that’s not what my store is about, I’m just here to find and share cute stuff! “Affordable clothing” to S + A means everything in our store is under $50 and we plan to keep it that way for as long as we have customers buying our stuff! And when I say we have a handpicked selection, I really mean it! I feel and touch every garment and accessory we carry in S + A, if I won’t wear it, it doesn’t make the store!
3) What are some must-have wardrobe essentials and accessories going into Fall?
Fall is probably my favorite seasons, it’s not so cold where you have to bundle up in coats but it’s not so hot where all you can wear are dresses. I love layers and I’m a scarves girl, I love scarves! My must have for this season is our Chevron Dream Scarf in all colors, lightweight cashmere boyfriend cardigans and subtle statement jewelries for a little pop, I’m really feeling green accessories right now!!
4) What are some of your favorite patterns/prints?
Speaking of, I’m obsessed with chevron pattern and I still love pretty floral print for the Fall!
5) What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Strawberry Buttermilk from Carmela Ice Cream in Los Angeles! It has just the right sweetness and sooo creamy!

Have you guys ever shopped at Francesca’s Collections (there’s an online store and physical boutiques all over the country)? Well let me tell you, it’s seriously like my new favorite store. I could literally spend hours in there (and I have before) and you can’t beat it’s buy 1 apparel get the second one half off sale that they periodically have. They have racks and racks of super fashionable tops, pants, dresses, tunics, skirts, cardigans, woo! They have table fulls of fun jewelry and random fun trinkets for gifts. And shoes? Yes, they have shoes, and bags, and cute fedora hats! Can you tell I’m in love?
