Today is a very special day, not only is this a GIVEAWAY post but it is also my
3 MONTH BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

In the past 3 months I’ve met so many great friends through this blog, and on this anniversary day, I’d like to introduce you to one of my new friends, Lisa (of Ink & Button) and the beautiful items that she creates!  Lisa and I actually have quite a few things in common… we got married around the same time, our creative interests were sparked after wedding planning, and we both own the Canon 50D!  Her husband actually owns his own photography business, Derren Raser Photography, and all of the fascinator product photos in this post were taken by him! Lisa is an absolute sweetheart and custom made a beautiful fascinator to give to one of my lucky readers~!  But before I show it to you, let’s get to know Lisa just a little bit better…

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you began making such pretty accessories?

I am a San Diego native and my husband and I just made a big move after our wedding last May to the Midwest.  We are living in Illinois for a few years while I complete my PhD program in Speech Communication.  My husband is a talented singer songwriter and photographer.  Our wedding completely re-inspired my crafty side!  After many months of DIY wedding planning, I wanted an outlet to keep creating.  Last November, I began making hair accessories out of felt and vintage buttons and Ink & Button was born!  The success of the shop and the friends I have made through it have been such a blessing!

What inspires you?

Oh, so many things! 🙂  Jane Austen, vintage millinery trims, lace, and buttons, pretty blogs (Sandy a la Mode being one of them!), beautiful photographs, Anthropologie, my creative friends, cupcakes, and antique shops!

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?

I have always loved Northern California and my husband and I honeymooned there last May.  We leisurely drove our car up the coast – exploring quaint towns and our favorite city, San Francisco.  Our favorite place that we stayed was the Mar Vista Cottages in Anchor Bay.  (I saw a picture of them on the front of Coastal Living Magazine years ago and ever since then, I wanted to visit!)  We stayed in a cute yellow cabin with its own kitchen and rugged ocean view.  Fresh eggs in colors of brown, blue, and green were left on our doorstep by the sweet, sweet owners.  They even invited us to pick flowers and vegetables from their beautiful gardens.  We walked to the beach to collect shells, followed goats around the yard and took naps and many photos.  It was perfect! 🙂

Have any advice for anyone who is thinking about starting up a shop?

My advice would be to just give it a try and see what happens!  Etsy has created such an easy platform to get you started and it can’t hurt to just give it a go.  Tell your friends and start connecting with other crafters and bloggers through Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, etc.   In addition to the delightful blessing of my shop, I have made some dear fellow crafty friends who I love but have never met in person! 🙂

And finally, Lisa custom made a beautiful fascinator for ONE LUCKY WINNER: a romantic bloom of strawberry cream petals with flirtatious black and white spotted feathers and two luxurious pearl buttons in the center! Ideal for use in hair, but also versatile enough to clip stylishly onto any sweater, scarf, or handbag. And, like all Ink & Button accessories, this flower has been hand-cut, hand-stitched, and lovingly assembled.  I think that this is just the perfect little accessory that every girl needs to dress up her hair or her outfit!  I totally wish I could enter this giveaway, whoever wins this is so lucky!
