With a little one on the way, you can bet I’m excited to share this shop with all you mommies and mom-to-be’s!  Each date that my due date nears is a day closer that I need to make sure I have everything bought and set for our new baby.  And with my love of handmade shops, you can bet I’ve been scouring etsy and bigcartel like none other.  One of my favorite shops just happens to be my sponsor, Yellow Plum Blossoms, as there is a variety of sewn goodies for mommy and baby such as burp clothes, quilts, blankets, crayon roll ups and more!  I just ADORE all the fabric choices too, they are so fun, colorful and whimsical!

{MEET JENNIE}

1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you decided to open up shop?
Hi! I’m Jennie. I’m a wife, and a Mom to 3 adorable little boys under the age of 5. Up until May of last year, I had never sewn anything, in.my.life! In fact when I got my machine I didn’t even know what a bobbin was or how to wind it! I just fell in love with fabric and wanted to make my baby {who was born last September} a quilt that he could keep forever. I know. High expectations for a first project huh?! My husband actually bought me my sewing machine for mother’s day and I got to work, and it actually turned out really well. Not sure if it was luck or if it was my need to have everything perfect? Then in the fall I decided to open up an Etsy shop and start selling all the cute things I was creating….plus our house was bursting at the seams with all the handmade lovelies I was making for it…so why not create something for someone else to love?

2) What are your favorite fabric collections/designers?
I love SO many designers and all the fabric collections are just so cute. But I do have a few favorites that stand apart from the rest. I love Jennifer Moore’s Monaluna. That was my first “taste” of fabric and have been loving it all ever since. Especially her organic collections. I am partial to children’s fabrics and am loving the new collection Children at Play by Sarah Jane. But then there are classics like Joel Dewberry whose fabric just screams gorgeous!!

3) Got any tips for a new mom-to-be? Don’t sweat the small stuff!
Cherish every single moment with your new little one. Let someone else do the laundry, especially if you’re nursing! It’s so important to spend the time bonding with your baby, and not worrying about all the details of cleaning your house for the first month or so. If you have to, send visitors away so you and baby can get to know each other. I know it sounds cliché, but it’s so true…time flies and before you know it they will be in Kindergarten!! I miss my little ones being so little!

4) What are you looking forward to this fall?
This fall, I am looking forward to cooler temps {first and foremost}, making a new fall wreath for my front door, walking my oldest to Kindergarten, celebrating my baby’s FIRST birthday, and of course fall fashion!!

5) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Bubble Gum from Baskin Robins, but since we don’t have Baskin Robins here I will settle for Mint Chocolate Chip. But I do love coconut frozen yogurt too!
