Along with my unofficial New Years resolutions I’ve made, I’ve decided to jump on the blogger bandwagon with the “one word” for the year type of post. For those unfamiliar with this, it’s where you choose one word to focus on for the New Year (perhaps in lieu of a list of resolutions esp. if you are prone to breaking those early). I don’t go down too deep into my heart too often on here, but I thought this timing was appropriate.
This year, I have decided to focus on a word that I think will bring greater happiness and fulfillment to my life.
BEING present. Living in the moment and not capturing my life through tweets and photos all the time (Instagram makes this especially hard for me) but rather capturing it in my memory. Having conversations with people face to face. Lifting my head up away from my cell phone, computer, TV, any electronics when people are talking to me. Unplugging once in awhile and be OK with it. Enjoying every little moment I spend with my baby boy (it’s only weeknights and weekends and that’s not enough)! Enjoying the moment and not always looking forward to the weekend or the next event going on. Taking time to stop and notice the beauty in nature that surrounds me. Waking up with a smile every day and try to stop myself from nagging my husband in the morning before work. And dance like nobody’s watching.
I want 2013 to be amazing and I know it will be in so many ways. And I want to be PRESENT so I can live it to its fullest!
