New Years Resolutions and a Party!

It’s that time again friends, it’s time for NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS!  Are you making some for next year?  Do you have a good track record of keeping to them?  For next year, I’ve made a few new resolutions and here they are:

1) Lose 10 pounds.

I pretty much say this every year, but really, I need to lose that and more next year!  Our company has a weight loss challenge and the top 30 teams who lose the most weight get an extra week of vacation, HOLLA!!

2) Find balance in life.

I want to be able to find a good balance between my full-time job, blogging, etsy shop updates, sleeping, keeping the house clean and spending quality time with family and friends.  Sometimes I tend to focus more energy on work and blogging… while neglecting other parts of my life.  Finding the right balance will create a happy medium for myself and others.

3) Call/Skype with people more instead of texting/tweeting.

The more advanced technology gets, the less I have real conversations and interactions with loved ones who live far away.  Sometimes I get lazy and get into back and forth texting conversations with friends for hours on end when it would just be faster to talk on the phone for 5 minutes, I see you nodding your head right now!!!

4) Be more budget savvy when it comes to shopping.

Without getting into too much detail, I shop, A LOT.  And I don’t always wait for good deals or buy things when they are sale.  Which means I sometimes buy things for full price and keep the tags on and don’t even wear it until it’s on sale… not smart!  I need to be more budget conscious and savvy, my husband is totally loving this one.

What are your New Years Resolutions? I’d love to read them!

And lastly, before I go… for the year… I would LOVE it if all you bloggy friends could come over and celebrate the New Year with me!  🙂  But unfortunately, I’m not too sure how many of you would want to fly to Missouri for it… so instead, if I were truly going to have a party for you all, here’s what the lineup would look like!!

Invite:

A beautiful champagne silhouette invite by the all mighty Martha Stewart (a 2011 version of course) would be sent to all guests weeks before the party.

What Your Host (that’s ME!) Will Be Wearing:

First, I would get all glammed up in this pretty lace dress seen on Natalie Merrillyn.

And throw on these beautiful Christian Louboutin strappy heels (if only I could afford these).

Menu:

These little French Onion Soup Stuffed Mushrooms made by The Pioneer Woman would start the night by getting your appetite going!!

Followed by a Cranberry-Orange Glazed Brie snack seen on Ingredients, Inc. Brie is seriously one of my favorite foods… EVER!

And of course no party would be complete without cupcakes, topped with a anna and blue paperie free printable seen on pizzzazzerie.

And a glass of champagne with a strawberry would be in my (and your) hand all night long…

Decor:

A table full of gold and champagne and “clock” decorations are a must!

Paper pom poms to adorn the room like these made by pomtree would really be the dulche de leche on top! 🙂

Favor:

And lastly, you’d all be going home with a 2011 Plantable Desk Calendar made by girl in gear studio!

Please RSVP in the Comment section and let me know what you’d wear to my “would-be” party (and don’t forget to tell me your New Years Resolutions too)!

See you in 2011!!

Yep, I’m totally coming to your New Years party 🙂 I don’t usually make resolutions (because I know I won’t keep them), but this year I did make a couple. Need to blog about that soon, I guess 🙂

    To see you in April.
To make more time for sewing.

    Happy New year!!!

  7. December 30, 2010 / 12:43 am

I’d definitely go to your party! Not sure what I would wear in my round state but I’m pretty sure it would a dress or long shirt with tights or leggings in flats. 😀

  8. December 30, 2010 / 2:14 am

Haha I would definitely attend your party! I think I’d wear one of the dresses that I picked up from H&M with the booties I got from the Boxing Day sale 🙂

  9. December 30, 2010 / 6:28 am

Ooooh, honey. I’ll see all of your resolutions and raise a ‘stop drinking so much.’ 🙂

PS: I made those paper poms for my wedding. Twelve of them. BY MYSELF. They are absolutely beautiful but I nearly lost a few fingers in the 6 weeks it took (almost 8 hours a day, every day) to get them done.

  10. December 30, 2010 / 6:41 am

Of course, I’d love to attend — and I have the perfect blue dress to wear! My New Years resolutions haven’t been crafted yet; I’m not quite sure how to take a sad situation and find the bright side of it. I’m working on it though.

  11. December 30, 2010 / 6:51 am

What time should we be over?? The party looks fabulous! 🙂 And basically a big “ditto” to your resolutions!! 🙂

Happy new year Sandy! That dress is stunning! I’m sure it would look amazing on you.

  13. December 30, 2010 / 7:27 am

I am so there!! Happy New year little lady. I would be wearing my plum dress with black lace across the middle that has a tulle puffy skirt underneath. It is adorable (now to just lose the weight so I can get back into it).

    My resolutions:
get to my weight watchers goal weight I am currently going in the wrong direction.
Work on my super secret project that I have also put on the backburner with my weight loss of late.
Make more things be it food, fabric items, photos. Just making things. I think that covers it.

    Big ((HUGS)) XOXOX

  14. December 30, 2010 / 7:46 am

This is so cute! Of course I would RSVP! I dont know what dress but I know for sure I would be wearing some Christian Louboutin’s too and with a glass of champagne in my hand ALL night long! 😉

My new Year’s resolution is similar to yours…I am very materialistic. I LOVE to shop and to have nice things. I am way too high maintenance for myself. I need to get control of this and need to save money for a new car and I graduate college this year so student loans will be flowing in. Gah!

  16. December 30, 2010 / 8:01 am

Love the virtual party ideas! I’m not sure what I’d wear to a cocktail party. I’m just going over to a friend’s house this NYE. So I’m planning on wearing a sparkly sequin from F21 with skinny jeans. 🙂 As for NY’s resolutions, I want to go to the gym more consistently, change the look of my blog, and grow my business (still thinking of ideas.) Happy new year!!

  17. December 30, 2010 / 8:03 am

good luck with your resolutions! the party pics are so cute! i am wearing a 3/4 sleeve black dress with fun tights and jewelry for nye. i have loved reading your blog and i look forward to more in 2011! 🙂 xoxo jcd http://cornflakedreams.blogspot.com/

Thanks so much for including my Brie in your post! This party looks like a blast! I would wear some dressy jeans, fun boots and a sequin top. My new years resolution is to relax more and live in the moment. Happy new year to you!!

  19. December 30, 2010 / 8:37 am

I am having a party also! Well, a Dancing Branflake New Year’s Eve Dinner Party… but I will happily stop by yours! Of course, my dress and shoes are top secret until tomorrow BUT I will tell you my resolution is to be kinder to all ALL the time.
    Love that decor!

  20. December 30, 2010 / 8:40 am

now this will be a party to remember….will definitely be wearing sequins, gorgeous!
I’m with you on #4…I’m going to budget big time, I spend money way too easily, need to stop doing that! should be interesting.

  22. December 30, 2010 / 9:18 am

Oh wow – this party seem lovely! i LOVE this idea – so cute.

and an extra vacation! good luck to you girly – that’s awesome!

thanks for the follow! i’m following back 🙂

  23. December 30, 2010 / 9:22 am

I think I’d play it safe with a lbd, dressed up with some cute accessories!

I haven’t made any “resolutions”, just things I’d like to accomplish. I’ll have more about this on the blog next week, but it’s things like “read all the books on my 100 Classics list” and “play through all of my Hanon piano exercises”. I guess those are resolutions!

    Happy 2011, girl!

  24. December 30, 2010 / 9:28 am

I’m not really making resolutions this year because I’m still doing 101 in 1001. But I am hoping for a much better year THIS year than LAST year.

    Have a wonderful 2011 friend!

  25. December 30, 2010 / 9:33 am

You are just too cute for words!! I love your virtual party!! Hmmm…what would I wear? something sparkly!! With flats!! Because I’m sure there will be dancing at your party and I want to dance all night long! 😉

Count me in!!!! I will be in a glittery dress with Channel shoes! 🙂
I have a few crafty resolutions, but I also want to spend less $$. I need to learn to be more frugal in 2011!!!
    HAppy New Year friend!!!
    xoxo

  27. December 30, 2010 / 9:37 am

I loved this post. I always like reading what people will be doing for new years. That dress is lovely!

  28. December 30, 2010 / 9:38 am

I would be honored to attend your virtual New Year’s Eve Party!

What would I wear? A little black dress accessorized with red pumps, silver/black/red jewelry and a zebra clutch.

So glad I found your blog. Look forward to reading in 2011!

  29. December 30, 2010 / 9:40 am

i’m with you on losing those ten pounds. It’s so tough when there is amazing chocolate out there to be eaten.

I love your resolution about connecting with others by phone or skype instead of texting. I couldn’t agree more. I feel like the art of a personal conversation has been ruined by texting.

I’m absolutely coming to your New Year’s party. Sounds fabulous! Champagne and strawberries are delicious. I’d probably wear a version of a little black dress with some cute wedges. Black camouflages the belly bulge 😉

  30. December 30, 2010 / 9:44 am

i’m borrowing your new year resolutions 😉

i would love to party w/ you sandy!! have fun !!

  31. December 30, 2010 / 10:22 am

You definitely know how to throw a party lady. I’m hoping to cook more in the coming year!

  32. December 30, 2010 / 10:49 am

I would SO fly to Missouri for your party if I weren’t in Taiwan right now 🙂 I just picked up a really fabulous little black dress at iRoo for New Years – so I’d wear that over at your New Year’s party 😉
How AWESOME that your company will give an extra week of vacation to the team that succeeds in their weight loss goals!! Talk about motivation!! 🙂

2011 is so close…it’s going to be a great year, I can feel it! 🙂

  33. December 30, 2010 / 11:47 am

ATTENDING!! 😉 my new years resolution is to start up my blog design business and plan a wedding! 🙂

  34. December 30, 2010 / 12:02 pm

I’ll be right over! 🙂 I have to start making my resolutions…honestly I’m not that great about keeping them but I give it a shot. I definitely need to figure out a way to have more balance in my life. I spend way too much time with work and blogging and tend to neglect the other important areas of my life.

And hello, I wish I could work for your company! And extra weeks vacay for losing weight??? How fabulous! 🙂

    Happy New Year, sweetie! xoxo

  35. December 30, 2010 / 1:56 pm

Your party sounds amazing, so there! Lol

Your #2 resolution is my theme for 2011, balance! This year has been crazy fun, but I am ready to focus and find a peaceful, happy and fulfilling balance.

    Happy New Year to you!

  36. December 30, 2010 / 2:04 pm

Count me in! I would love to come – the mushroom balls and champagne sound heavenly 🙂

    xoxo Mary Jo

  37. December 30, 2010 / 2:22 pm

YAY for another blogger in Kansas City!!! I usually go to KC at least once a month or two, when I visit there we should meet up!!
New year!!! I will be wearing gold sequin dress and Idk which shoes I’m going to wear yet but probably something that will mismatch my dress so it will give me the pop out color lol!!!!
    Resolution:
revamp my wardrobe, get more color and accessories
work out more and lose couple pounds
probably start advertising my blog to sponsors, need to get more readers per day

Love it! (And still swooning over that dress– love the heels you paired it with!)

    Happy New Year!

  39. December 30, 2010 / 6:29 pm

This is such a cute idea (: My resolution for 2011 is to relax. I’m graduating from USC in May and I have no idea what my life is going to be like this time next year. I’m always freaking out about the smallest things, so this year I am promising myself not to be too upset if things don’t work out perfectly and to be open to all opportunities that come my way (:

I just bought my first real little black dress from Nordstrom (one shoulder, super simple and classy) and I’ll wear that to your party!

Also, Martha Stewert has an amazing tutorial for the pom poms here (http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/tissue-paper-pom-poms-how-to) so you can easily make one part of your dream party come true!

  40. December 30, 2010 / 7:45 pm

Yea! I love your site! I love that dress, the brie looks amazing, and I think I would like to attend your party! 🙂

  41. December 30, 2010 / 8:01 pm

I would LOVE to go! haha. Such great ideas! I absolutely adore that dress you will be wearing.

My new years resolution is to finish school with perfect grades and further my crafting & cooking!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  42. December 30, 2010 / 8:09 pm

    These pictures are great!
Hey I totally know what you mean with needing to be more budget savvy 🙂
I can be a bit of a shopaholic myself sometimes when it comes to it 🙂
    xoxo

  43. December 30, 2010 / 8:51 pm

What a beautiful party you would throw! This post was lovely and I enjoyed reading it… but more than anything, THANK YOU for sharing the French Onion Soup Stuffed Mushroom recipe! I am making it the first chance I get. It looks DELICIOUS!!!

I have given up the idea of making New Year’s Resolutions as I tend to forget them quickly and need to re-assess my life more often than once a year! But best of luck with keeping yours and all the power to you for having goals and being ambitious! 🙂

    Happy New Year!
    Jen

  44. December 30, 2010 / 10:00 pm

what a gorgeous party!! =) you totally don’t need to lose 10 pounds~ not at all! you’re so beautiful the way you are. you’re right about the non-real time communication thing! i never talk to anyone on the phone anymore. call me~~! =)

  45. December 30, 2010 / 10:19 pm

You throw the best parties 😉 I would totally wear a silk shirt with a sparkly skirt and my new Sam Eldmans.

My resolutions are similar to yours: exercise more just to feel more energetic, start meditating a little bit each day and spend more time on my blog.

    Happy New year!!!

  46. December 30, 2010 / 10:51 pm

French onion stuffed mushrooms? Yes please!
Glad I found your blog, stopping by from the hiyaluv page!!! 🙂 I’m your newest follower!

  47. December 30, 2010 / 11:19 pm

Well you know I would be wearing glitter glasses! And glitter eye shadow…and just for you, maybe even an appropriate sequined skirt 🙂

  48. December 31, 2010 / 1:09 am

what great resolutions!! i set myself a stricter shopping for each month in the new year and i’m going to stick with it! my hope is that if i post up my monthly spending on my blog, it’ll help keep me accountable better. 🙂

and i love those paper pom poms! i’ll have to make some of those too!

  49. December 31, 2010 / 7:48 am

Utterly fantastic! I hope you are able to keep all your resolutions.

I would definitely be wearing sparkly/glittery heels with a pretty dress. I might even bring out a tutu 🙂

Resolutions, I will have post about it…but definitely concentrate more on my etsy, get a new job, get a SLR camera, take time to document memories.

    Have a wonderful New Year!

  50. December 31, 2010 / 9:07 am

Your hostess dress is gorgeous – I love the lace!

Happy New Year and all the best to you in 2011.

  54. December 31, 2010 / 2:21 pm

Your party sounds great! The champagne and cupcakes are my favorite! And yes–we do need to have a KC Blogger meet up!

  55. December 31, 2010 / 3:29 pm

Okay if you lose 10 pounds will be a negative size 2 then? All kidding aside, I understand, we all want to do better in that department.

Wish I really could go to a party that looks like the one you’ve layed out here! I’d build my outfit around my new royal purple Calvin Klein shirt (the one I bought with no where to wear it).

  56. December 31, 2010 / 10:43 pm

Such a great (pretty) post. Happy New Years!

**I’m obsessed with that calendar now.

This sounds like THE party of the year! 🙂
Happy New Year, Sandy! I’ve decided “no resolutions” ..although I’m sure I’ll make some sometime this month! It feels odd not having any. And yes, I’m nodding my head to #3!

  62. January 2, 2011 / 10:59 am

i’d be tempted to fly to yours for those cupcakes! i’d wear a lace dress and sparkly party tights (: xo

  63. January 2, 2011 / 2:41 pm

Happy New Year, sweetie!! Such wonderful resolutions, although I don’t think you need to lose a single pound!! Completely loving that lace dress… I found some amazing lace, silk and satin fabrics over our Canadian Boxing Day sales and am truly inspired to create something similar.

In the New Year I wish for you to achieve your goals, for you to achieve much success with your Etsy shop, and overall to be incredibly happy and surrounded with love.

Thank you also for being such a wonderful friend, I look forward to more of our blog-love this year 🙂

  64. January 2, 2011 / 3:11 pm
