My fashion trend prediction for 2011!

Hope you all had a wonderful New Year celebration!  My husband and I celebrated with another couple at a tapas dinner and drinks at a local bar.  Right before the countdown, we were actually playing Photo Hunt (one of my FAVORITE touchscreen games from my college days), hehe.  After hanging out at the bar, we went back to my friend’s house and watched Youtube videos til pretty late!  It was a super fun night! 🙂

So I just wanted to start off my first post of the year with my blog plan for 2011!!  First off, I want to be a little more true to my blog name, Sandy a la mode.  I think I got the “Sandy” part down as I always post things that I am doing or things that I like.  But as for “a la mode”, there’s actually two meanings:

  1. According to the prevailing style or fashion.
  2. Served with ice cream: apple pie à la mode.

With that said, I’m going to dedicate this year of blogging to fashion and ice cream.  Kidding. But you’d still follow me if I did, right?? 😉  OK, all jokes aside, I decided to kick off the year with an “In Style” post because I only started doing these posts at the end of 2010 and I just wanted to let you know that these are here to stay and you’ll be seeing more of my crazy-what-i-think-is-stylish-but-may-not-really-be-that-stylish outfits in 2011.  🙂  I’m hoping to post lots of fun casual outfits but also sprinkle in my business casual outfits to share with those other cubicle chicas out there!  Where ya at??

Sweater: Forever 21, Tights: H&M, Knee High Socks: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden, Scarf: Received from Much Love, Illy in Cold Hands, Warm Hearts swap, Belt: Taken from my other shirt purchased from Amelia’s Boutique , Headband: J.Crew

So we all know that boots are IN this season, well I think they’re pretty much every winter, right?  But anyhow, to fancy up the boot look, I suggest wearing a pair of knee highs under your boots and having the knee highs peek out over the top of your boots (and you can wear tights too like I am if your cold or ditch the tights if you like)!  I think it’ d be totally cute if your knee high socks had a button or pom poms on the sides too!  Yea yea?  Do you agree?

Oh yes and at the end of last year mustard + grey was my fave color combo, but I think  mustard + hunter green is starting to be a new fave!!

What fashion trends or color combos do you predict will be “in” for 2011?

  1. January 2, 2011 / 7:04 pm

houndstooth! but maybe just because I just bought a dress in that print and I LOVE it! Cute with the socks over the boots!!

  2. January 2, 2011 / 7:20 pm

Oh I’m a cubbie buddy too! I’ll be checking for lots of inspiration – so bring it! I’m horrible at predicting fashion… but I’m feeling a lot of purple in 2011. At least I hope!

  3. January 2, 2011 / 7:22 pm

Definitely purple! I’m all about deep plum shades right now.

And you look so cute! I wore tall socks with my boots the other day and now I’m addicted to doing it! 🙂

  4. January 2, 2011 / 7:32 pm

Great picks lady! You look adorable.

  5. January 2, 2011 / 7:37 pm

  6. January 2, 2011 / 7:40 pm

love ya, dear dear friend! 🙂

  7. January 2, 2011 / 7:43 pm

i like your bright yellowy orange (or orangey yellow?) scarf~

  8. January 2, 2011 / 7:45 pm

    Cute! Love those boots!

  9. January 2, 2011 / 8:01 pm

Cute, cute! So glad I found your blog. Looking forward to reading in 2011!

  10. January 2, 2011 / 8:43 pm

I know it’s nothing exciting and new but I love purple and grey together. Maybe more plum or eggplant instead of purple. I always wear black, so for 2011, I should try to broaden my color spectrum.

    Cute outfit btw…

sandy – i totally love that idea of the tights/knee high socks peeking over boots! i think i will try that out sometime this winter! such a super cute look…i miss being able to shop at “sandy’s closet” 😉

  12. January 2, 2011 / 8:54 pm

Oh so super cute!! I love it all. I think being so short I’d only add more heels to this outfit (so I can actually look some ppl in the eye, lol!) and that’s it. Super comfy, super chic!

  14. January 2, 2011 / 9:08 pm

Love your outfit! I’m a cubicle buddy too! So i will definitely be watching your outfits. 🙂 I just bought some great kelly green tops/tunic that I hope to wear. So excited to rework my wardrobe this year!

  15. January 2, 2011 / 9:19 pm

could you be any cuter? i love your boots and scarf. i think a lot of things will go back to being girly – bright colors, sophisticated glitter. we’ll see. but that’s what i foresee. xo

  16. January 2, 2011 / 9:25 pm

I would love it if you blogged about ice cream 🙂
As for the color combo, I’m totally obsessed with grey and mustard yellow lately. The grey is becoming a staple in my closet, which is probably an improvement over brown, which is what I always work for the past year or two! Good thing I don’t blog about fashion, huh?
    Happy New Year, friend!

  17. January 2, 2011 / 9:48 pm

I love mustard yellow! Especially with grey. I’m going to try wearing it with green thanks to this post!

  18. January 2, 2011 / 9:49 pm

LOVE mustard & green! Great insight on the upcoming trends, girl!

  19. January 2, 2011 / 9:51 pm

LOVE…I totally wore a similar sweater in one of my last posts..and the craziness is, it was hunter green and mustard yellow combo (post about CHWH goodies)! Such a fun post Sandy! I would read your blog any day.. even if it was about fashion and ice cream 🙂

  20. January 2, 2011 / 10:10 pm

You are adorable! That’s my favorite type of outfit.

I think 2011 will bring more wide legged, high waist pants. I love my tall boots so I plan on keeping the leggings and skinny jeans… but I’ll be curious to see what the “next” thing is.

  21. January 2, 2011 / 10:25 pm

i love knee highs and tights. i bought soooo many on our recent trip to italy. all the girls there wore tights and knee high socks everywhere you look. i just wish we had specialty stores here like they do!

i can’t wait to see what the “in” colors are going to be! 🙂 happy new year girl!

  22. January 2, 2011 / 10:28 pm

ur outfit is super cute :)as usual!

  29. January 3, 2011 / 8:30 am

After losing a lot of weight last year, I’m ready to start updating my wardrobe and possibly getting over my fear of being in front of the camera! So you’ll probably catch me doing some outfit posts too! But I’m no fashionista, so I’ll definitely be coming here to check what’s currently “a la mode” ;o)

  30. January 3, 2011 / 8:32 am

too funny, I was going to write that I think green and khaki will be a vital colour combo this year!

love your post, as always, oh…and I just bought a pair of boots similar to the ones you’re wearing! can’t wait to get my hands on them!

  31. January 3, 2011 / 9:11 am

I’m not so good with predicting fashion trends — I just do what I like. And I love the knee highs under boots (still searching for that perfect pair of boots!). I also think “quiet glamour” will be big this year — at least in my life.
    Happy New Year, Sandy!

  32. January 3, 2011 / 9:28 am

I’m addicted to boots, tights, and socks! I think its a great fashion…very few people in Tulsa, OK are doing it. That makes me LOVE it more. I just saw Knee High socks over skinny jeans with boots last week. Thoughts on that style? I can’t decide.

  37. January 3, 2011 / 11:56 am

I picked up a couple of pairs of knee-high socks when I was at Target in the States a couple weeks ago, but now I’m wishing I bought more! I love ’em! Especially with tights, haha! Guess I’ll just have to knit some to keep me happy until the next time I go to the States. 🙂

I’m excited to see more of your outfit posts!
