Today, I would like to introduce you to a shop that was created for a cause, a beautiful cause.  Ashley, from The Shine Project, has one of the biggest hearts I know and she’s always up to good and helping out others.  But I’d like to highlight just one of many shops today, Threads.  If you’re a regular follower, then you know how much I love a great arm party!  The bracelets that they sell are great quality, come in a variety of designs and colors, and the best part is that if you make a purchase, you will be help employ at risk youth.  I just love that!

{MEET ASHLEY}

1) Tell us a little bit about the story behind Threads.
I started The Shine Project last January to motivate people to go out of their comfort zone and be the change. We soon after created a non-profit organization, The Shine Scholarship Project, with the mission to improve the lives of at risk youth through education, service, and family involvement. We have blessed some really amazing high school students to help them pay for college. You can watch what we’ve accomplished and who we’ve touched here. A few months ago I started getting antsy and realized that my journey helping these youth was just beginning. I knew I needed to create a way to provide more opportunities for them, especially after they graduate high school and are transitioning into college. That’s when the idea of Threads was born.

Threads is a cause driven business that changes the future of at risk youth. They come from various backgrounds, but all have one thing in common, they want to break the cycle. By employing them, we instill values of self reliance and hard work. They are paid fair wages for the bracelets they make, and in turn are able to pay their way through school. Many of Threads employees are first generation college students. They dream of becoming nurses, broadcasters, writers and engineers.

Your purchase will directly impact a student. Even beyond financial support, your belief in them is a symbol of hope and trust that they can achieve what for so long seemed impossible. By purchasing Threads you are wearing more than just a bracelet, you are wearing change. Wear Change.

2) What are some ways that people can get involved with The Shine Project?
We can help you set up a service project in your community, or you can pledge a change jar! You take a regular old jar, and fill it with change until you reach $100. When it’s full, you send the money to the shine scholarship project. 100% of the proceeds goes to sending the kids to college. To pledge, email theshineproject@gmail.com.

3) What are you looking forward to this Fall?
Moving into an office in downtown Phoenix where we can fit more employees! And the fact it wont be 120 degrees outside. Yes please.

4) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Can I say ALL?! Ice cream is literally my favorite dessert. Gelato and frozen yogurt are my favorites.
