It’s been awhile since I’ve had a giveaway and I’m sure you’ve all missed them!  I recently discovered the shop History and Industry and was seriously blown away.  This shop has some of the most gorgeous statement jewelry pieces I ever did see.  Talk about a statement necklace, bracelet or earrings that really steal the show, the pieces are made from beautifully painted wood and glass that are crafted together to make something truly fashionable and amazing.  You can see me wearing the Autumnal necklace in yesterday’s post. But first up, let’s meet the creator behind this shop before entering to win a beautiful bold bracelet below!

 {MEET IRENE}

1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started with your shop?
Traveling the world with my family as a kid, I was drawn to hand-made objects and old artifacts both for aesthetic reasons and for the stories they told about people and their history. I carried this interest with me into college where I studied art and art history. I directed my obsession with color, shape, form into fantastical abstracted landscape paintings. All the while, jewelry-making was an impulse that I fostered in all my free-time. In 2011, History+Industry was born from an interest in ancient adornment as well as my desire to inspire imagination and story within a modern sentiment.

2) Where do you draw inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from…everywhere! Art museums are the perfectly saturated venues for me to draw inspiration, from the decorative arts to ancient scrolls. I wouldn’t mind being trapped in a museum with ancient royal paintings from India, Japanese wood-block prints, rooms full of illuminated manuscripts, the list goes on.

3) What are you looking forward to doing this Winter?
The future holds more exploration for my jewelry line. I approach each design as I do my paintings. They are new and imaginative, each one informing the next. This winter, I’m excited about introducing more muted tones mixed with bright pops of color, and always MANY more one-of-a-kinds.

4) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Love my Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, thank you Ben and Jerry for many years of ice cream goodness!
