Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s day and got some great gifts! Cutest thing I saw? When I boarded my Southwest flight heading to Detroit, there were 3 packs of Valentine’s day cards at the door in case anyone needed a last minute gift, haha, too funny. My favorite thing about flying is that I can just sit down, upload all my photos on my memory card and edit away with NO distractions, except for turbulence and the flight attendant asking me what I want to drink. Besides that, there are no twitter, facebook, email distractions and I can just edit away in Lightroom, it’s really quite productive! And it makes me realize how far behind I am on posting photos, I have so much content I can’t even keep up, and I think that’s a good problem to have. 😉
So today I just wanted to share a few photos I took from my trip to California a few weeks ago. I spent four days working and four days with family! On Thursday, my dad picked me up and we went on a little date to Little Tokyo. First, we had dinner at Sushi Gen… let me just say that sushi on the coasts is so much fresher and yummier than sushi in the middle of the U.S.! Then we headed to the main drag of Little Tokyo.
I love how it is decorated with lanterns, umbrellas, and bamboo!
Seriously?? This was amazing. It was gelato inside of mochi, totally genius!!
Nom nom… and my Dad and I shared these amazing desserts, green tea and raspberry mochi-lato and green tea ice cream. I totally get my sweet tooth from my Dad. 🙂
That evening, my brother, sister-in-law and I went on a food truck rampage, so fun!!
The best thing I had? Kimchi and cheese quesadillas, I’m totally going to try and make this at home sometime!
I love the cute design of this truck!
And these Asian tacos were DELISH!!
The next night, I met up with a few cousins from my Dad’s side. We had Korean BBQ before heading back to my brother’s house for a game night! My cousin Amy and I couldn’t pass up the chance to pop into Ralph’s to buy this MASSIVE RED VELVET CUPCAKE!!
So so yummy. I’m linking up this picture to Sweet Shot Tuesdays, oh yes I am.
One of my favorite parts about my trips to California is spending time with my 2 year old nephew! Ain’t he just the darndest thing pretending to sleep on the stairs with a pink pillow? This picture just makes me smile! 🙂
Hehe, we always have so much fun together! Stay tuned for a nephew + auntie photo shoot coming next week!! 🙂
And lastly, you can already tell he is very detail-oriented. He works real hard to pick grapes off stems, like it’s his J.O.B., too cute!
And there’s no coincidence that half of these photos are of food… *sigh*I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, just trying to work towards my dreams of becoming a professional food photographer! 😉 I’m supposed to be going back to California for work in a few weeks and I’m already counting down the days! Oh, and my parents-in-law are coming up to visit me for dinner (they live two hours away from my client site) tomorrow too, so fun!
I haven’t been to Little Tokyo and have always wanted to visit. Your nephew is so cute sleeping on the stairs! 😉
As a family, we don’t do much together. We don’t have dinners together that often nor do we see much of each other. However, when we do gather together, it’s very warming. 🙂
Aw, you look like you had a great time! your pics of food are so good! You’ll laugh when you read my post tonight (tomorrow) about me taking pics of food and my hubs response. 😉 I definitely wish I could travel with you and try all that food! It looks so good! Your nephew is so cute and I can’t wait to see the aunty/nephew photoshoot! 😉

Aww, I miss california so much! There’s so much great sushy, and you can find it for not too expensive! Not so in Italy – there are a couple places we go to, but the only sushi that compares to what you can find at my favorite places in California is SUPER expensive.
Looks like you had a great time!
That whole post totally made me hungry. Kimchi and cheese quesadillas, I would love to try.
looks like you had an amazing trip! I LOVE the food photos (although they make me hungry). the food carts look like a lot of fun (im hoping to try a few out in portland next month). and that red velvet cupcake…YUM! so glad that you got to spend some quality time with your family (your nephew is indeed adorable!) xoxo jcd

My fave thing to do? Just about like you! Snuggle and eat! hahah Where in CA were you? I’m heading out there on Thurs and couldn’t be more excited, but am clueless as to where to go! Also, very much looking forward to being disconnected for those few hours on the plane- I love social media, but sometimes I need a forced break!!!! p.s. Is lightroom hard? I just got it but am terrified of the learning curve haha
Love your market shots!
