Cubicle Chic – Remix Your Oldies!

Blouse: Express, Cardigan: Gap, Skirt: H&M, Tights: Forever 21, Shoes: Payless, Necklace: Forever 21

Well, I’m off to California this week!  I have to say, I was fully expecting it to be 70s/80s, but looks like it will only be 50s/60s… but who am I to complain, it sure beats 20s/30s and all that snow you see there!  So anyways, you see this hot pink blouse?  Well, how can you miss it?  I probably bought it about 7 years ago (that’s like senior year of college, dang have I really been working that long?!?) from Express, and that’s probably the last time I wore it too.  Good thing I have outfit posts on my blog so I can be held accountable for making sure I remix what I have in my closet and bring out those oldies but goodies.  And thank goodness it still fits!  You see, I have a plan to wear at least 1 new item each week, and by new, I mean an item that hasn’t been worn in the last 6 months (I’m kind of a hoarder and have trouble getting rid of clothes).  It’s fun, you should try it.  It’s another way of remixing your closet since I’m not brave enough to do Kendi’s 30 for 30 yet!  😉

What’s the oldest thing you own in your closet?

Cute! Love that color on you! Oh gosh, I hate to admit it, but I probably have some things that are really old but mainly for sentimental reasons as my grandmother made them and she’s no longer with us.

Wow that top is so super cute, I love the color. Wear it more often!

A flowy cream top everyone hates…I got it for like 5 bucks at Marshalls, maybe 2-3 years ago.

  4. February 27, 2011 / 8:20 pm

Haha! I’m such a hoarder too, but I’m not lucky enough to always fit in them through the years. I think I have a similar top from Express too in royal blue. Your outfit is adorable!

Hahaha Oh my, I think my oldest piece of clothing in my closet is an Abercrombie skirt from 8th grade. It it knee length and has a drawstring, so I can still wear it this spring with my huge belly. 🙂

I am loving that color on you! 🙂

I have a pair of jeans that I refuse to throw away. They are full of holes and I really can’t wear them anywhere but at home but they’re too amazing for me to throw out!

I’m doing the 30/30 now and although I’m a little behind, it’s HARD!! Way harder than I thought it was going to be! I’ve been having fun trying to be creative with my outfits…but I think I like your version better 🙂

oh my gosh, don’t tell anybody but I have a jacket AND a dress I wore in the 5th grade (yes, I can still wear them) oh, and a sweatshirt bought in the 5th grade. So that you can accurately appreciate how long that has been, I turn thirty on tuesday. For real.

Ohh LOVE the bright pink blouse!! It gives such a great pop to the outfit! Have a good time in California!!

The oldest things are my band tshirts I’ve accumulated thought out the years of going to so many concerts in high school. But… I can’t let go of them haha.

I’m sure if I dug through my closet, I could find something from college ten years ago or so. That frightens me a bit. Anyway, I think you look adorable in these photos – -your expressions are priceless!

I have a lot of “old things” in my closet, but the only thing that comes to mind is a chocolate velvet blazer from Nordstroms! Everyone in my family wants that blazer and for a while it didn’t fit since I gained weight, but I refused to give it up 🙂

That’s a really fun outfit, it really makes the black/gray ensemble have a lot of style 🙂

Oh geez, I have stuff in my closet from when I was in high school. I don’t even want to think about cleaning it out!

  23. February 28, 2011 / 9:06 am

i think i have that shiny pink blouse & it’s been sitting in my closet for like evers… because pink + shiny combination scares me…

but you rock it well! 🙂

  24. February 28, 2011 / 9:13 am

I have jeans from when Clinton was in the White House.

  25. February 28, 2011 / 9:35 am

  26. February 28, 2011 / 9:48 am

oooh! great job remixing! i am about to finish the 30 for 30 and man, was it hard! the remixing wasn’t hard, but being disciplined to take pics every day sure was! plus, i am b-o-r-e-d of the same clothes! it has been a good practice, though, and now i appreciate all my other clothes so much more!

  27. February 28, 2011 / 10:28 am

I loved the 30 for 30 challenge when I did it.

The oldest thing in my closet is a pair of YMI jeans I bought when I was probably 17.
I did go through and got rid of all my clothes from HS. 🙂

  28. February 28, 2011 / 10:38 am

You look so fab! Love this outfit. And, have fun in California!! =D xo.

  29. February 28, 2011 / 11:10 am

this is really bad, since i’m still growing {i’m only 15}, but i’ve had a tunic dress with a ruffle at the bottom for 3+ yrs, i think. other than that, probably my Walk for Life T-shirts {a fundraiser for a local anti-abortion clinic}. gotta keep those! 😉

I love that color on you, it’s so pretty. 🙂

The oldest item in my closet is my army green military jacket that my grandparents gave me for Christmas more than 4 years ago. It’s the one thing I kept through every closet clean-out, I love it:)

  31. February 28, 2011 / 11:54 am

Have a nice time in California and enjoy the warmer weather! That outfit is really cute and I love the blouse. I can be somewhat of a clothes hoarder too. I have a t-shirt from my senior year of high school that I cannot get rid of. That’s probably my oldest item.

  32. February 28, 2011 / 11:55 am

I still have a sarong that I bought on spring break in college….I treasure it! Love that color on you!

  33. February 28, 2011 / 1:15 pm

    I LOVE this outfit!!
I keep a lot of my old clothes that I never wear!!
I think the oldest thing that I still wear is a mighty ducks tee that I “borrowed” from a friend when I was 13 or so. I LOVE that tee!! 🙂

  34. February 28, 2011 / 3:33 pm

I have the hardest time getting rid of clothes too! We just had a clothing swap party with some girls from work, so that sort of forced me to get rid of stuff (but, again, I brought stuff home!!)

    Love your blog, btw!

Such a lovely blouse! I’m glad you decided to wear it again. My oldest item is probably a dress I’ve had since freshman year of high school. I actually just did a huge closet clean-out where a lotttt of things went to the Salvation Army!

  36. February 28, 2011 / 3:56 pm

That’s a great plan! I’m feeling incredibly stuck in my wardrobe so I might have to start pulling out some oldies. (Except I don’t think I have anything that’s 7 years old!)

  37. February 28, 2011 / 4:49 pm

    You are so darn cute!
I am so excited for you to have a week in Cali! So jealous! Its so beautiful there!

  39. February 28, 2011 / 6:29 pm

It’s a great colour and it’s always fun to find old clothes in your wardrobe.

I have a few tops and that I have had forever. I do have a few pairs of teeny shorts I must have bought in high school that I still own. They are really comfy and great for lazy around the house in summer.

  40. February 28, 2011 / 6:30 pm

Oh sandy, you look awesome and i love the color combination! Look at those gorgeous snows at the background! Must be really cold. Keep warm and have a wonderful time at California sweet friend! Love to you!

  42. March 1, 2011 / 8:17 am

Ha, I think I have things way older than 7 years. Well I guess it helps if you don’t count the sleep tees I own, haha. But still, yes, definitely items from college… and since I graduated in 2002…. eek!
    Love your look. Enjoy Cali!

I love that an “old blouse” becomes fun and trendy again! Great remixed outfit, Sandy!

  44. March 2, 2011 / 10:35 am

In my closet are vintage dresses that my mom wore as a teen. My junior prom gown. The skirt I was wearing when my husband and I met. The shoes I wore on my wedding day… None of these things are used much anymore, but I am a terrible sentimentalist. Perhaps my daughters will like them someday!?

  45. March 2, 2011 / 2:48 pm

you are beautiful, sandy and you outfit is tres chic!

the oldest thing in my closet is a red knitted ski cap from my childhood.
