Saturday Snapshot

Did you know I was a professional roller skater when I was younger?  You know what my trick was?  Making sure my hair was out of face with a hot pink ponytail holder.  😉  This photo always makes me smile because it reminds me of how active I was as a kid.  I used to roller skate, ice skate, tap dance, do ballet, gymnastics, and Chinese folk dances.  And now?  My exercise is running from gate to gate in airports and an occasional workout in the hotel gym.

    Are those Fisher Price roller skates? I had some of those when I was little too. I also had a really cool pair of pink and white low top skates. What I would give to find some of those in my size 🙂

    So so cute, Sandy!!! I always hated rollerblading and rollerskating because my parents made me wear a helmet and knee/elbow pads so I looked like a dweeb. I did, however, play lots of sports and dance/gymnastics. Now? my typing fingers get lots of exercise, hah!

    such a cute photo! I remember those type of roller skates! It can be so tough keeping up with an exercise routine. I recently started jogging, because it’s something that I can do with the kids (jogging stroller) but between when I started that a finished college, I didn’t get hardly any exercise of any sorts!

  21. April 16, 2011 / 2:06 pm

  35. April 17, 2011 / 11:43 am

    I had those rollerskates!! Are they the Fisher Price ones where you could adjust them as your feet grew? I loved roller skating with them! Oh, it brings back memories!! I think I roller skated while wearing shirts my mom had made with “Meghan” embroidered on them and some sort of strange pattern of penguins or candies sewn onto the front.

  36. April 17, 2011 / 4:27 pm

    Roller-skating is also a popular sport, and it is even thought that it might soon be added to the Olympics. Skate-parks that have been designed to accommodate the resurgence of skateboarding can also be easily used for roller-skating, and skaters can pull off similar tricks and manoeuvres to skateboarders this way. Roller skate racing is also quite popular, with people competing to get from one side of an obstacle course to the other in the fastest time.;
