Sponsor Love + Guest Post – How To Wear Holiday Colors by Dragonflight Dreams

Hi friends!  Today we have a fabulous guest post brought to you by the designer, screenprinter, dog mama, wannabe chef, blogger… Dragonflight Dreams!  She will be helping us break down the best way to incorporate holiday colors into your wardrobe while remaining fashionable!

I’ve always been one of those people that cringes inside at the thought of wearing colors obviously and glaringly associated with a holiday: black and orange, red white & blue, etc. Christmas is no exception. The idea of wearing red and green together makes me think of elves and greeting cards, not a stylishly put-together person. But no longer! I’ve figured out some tricks to pulling this combo off:

  1. Choose more muted tones of the classic red and green. Instead of bright red, go with a darker crimson. Instead of bright green, go with a deeper evergreen.
  2. Mix with lots of neutrals. For Christmas in particular, white, gold and silver are great, but any neutrals will work.
  3. Add in some patterned pieces. It adds some texture and interest, and can also be a great way to sneak in that holiday color.
  4. Accessories are great for a pop of color if you don’t want to go head-to-foot Christmas. A shoe, a scarf, a piece of jewelry, tights – mix and match and see what works!

Here are some of my outfit ideas featuring Christmas holiday colors:

How about you? Do you squirm at the thought of wearing holiday colors? How would you wear the seasonal red and green?

I love wearing holiday colors, it’s the one time of year you can and be allowed to be cheesy. I adore the Christmas formal, so pretty!

I’m not a huge fan of the classic, bright red color. SO I’m glad that there are alternatives like burgundy as an option!

Def agree with your tips…it’s so good to find more muted shades of holiday colours, or to take the brights and pair them with neutrals…otherwise it gets to be a little TOO festive!!! 😛 I tend to shy away from wearing more than one holiday colourat a time, but sometimes like to wear a really muted pea green with just a touch of oxblood or burgundy.

I love the casual outfits. I don’t generally do red/green but I could do a burgundy or pine color.

I love both of those Christmas dresses. And yes I agree that head to toe Christmas is a little much. One accent piece is really festive though. A necklace, scarf, earrings, a hat all work in my opinion.

Great suggestions! I don’t like to wear bright red or green but I love darker version…burgundy, emerald, etc. I love all your suggestions for Christmas formal! I also like to wear other jewel tone colors and make it more “holiday” by adding sparkly jewels or sequins!

How darling is the #3 Christmas formal for party events, I might add add a little height by means of wearing heels, and would love to go to the #1 of casual look. Love the selection of idea.:)
