Bows and Business

Dress c/o El Vintage | Blazer: TJ Maxx {similar} | Shoes: Sam & Libby {similar} | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bracelet c/o Conversation Pieces | Phone Bow Charm c/o Javo Edge (take 15% off your Javo Edge purchase with code SANDY15) | Belt from another dress

So I have to admit, I own a ton of blazers, but always have trouble styling them.  I feel like they’d work interchangeably with a cardigan, which I have no problem styling, but for some reason I struggle with blazers.  However, whenever I do put on a blazer, I feel like I should be going to a business meeting or leading a client event.  But one of my favorite blazers is this striped one with lace on the back.  I love how the boldness of it contrasts with the beautiful and bold vintage purple dress (isn’t the color just stunning?).

Whip out my phone and it suddenly makes me look like those super busy all important business travelers on the go in an airport.  Yea, that was TOTALLY me back when I traveled almost every other week.  Except the phone that you are seeing here is my “fun” phone.  I literally just use it to take pictures to load to Instagram (and for some other fun iPhone apps)  Yea, I’m the crazy person that paid a whole bunch of money to use a free app.  But at least my phone is cute-ified and won’t be confused with everyone else’s iPhone with a bow in the phone jack.  Want one of your own?  Take 15% off your Javo Edge purchase with code SANDY15!  My work (and only other) phone is an Android phone that isn’t compatible with Instagram, boo.

Here’s where I stop for a second and have a little “get to know me” session.  I don’t like to mix business (my full-time job) with pleasure (the rest of my life + my blog) too much but for those of you that are curious… my 8-5 job is being a Consultant for a Healthcare IT company.  I help hospitals automate their Laboratory workflow, manage 5 people, and mentor a lot of new people who have just joined my team.  I used to travel all over the country and the world about 75% of my time, but since I’ve had A, I don’t travel anymore (yay!).  I could say a lot more but I don’t want to bore you.  😉

What is your full-time job?

And if it’s blogging, lucky you!

Wow, your job actually sounds really interesting! I’m so obsessed with this blazer. . .the lace back is so unexpected and pretty!!! LOVE how you can see the purple peeking through. I agree, I find blazers and cardigans to be interchangeable, but I always feel more business-like in a blazer, and have a bit of a harder time styling them.

I love this outfit of yours. You look so sweet in it.

  32. Such a cute outfit! I love the lace peek-a-boo detailing on the back. I have trouble styling blazers too sometimes. I always end up pairing them with something ultra-feminine so I don’t feel to business-meeting ready.

As for my real job – marketing strategy and consulting! Lots of creativity, but not as fun blog writing 🙂

The purples match! How cool! And the back of the blazer is so fun and unexpected! What a cute phone, definitely not office appropriate unless you want to seem like a tween. Anyways, what an important job you have managing and training people. So glad you don’t have to travel anymore!!!! I work full time as a researcher in indoor air quality issues in commercial buildings. We contribute to writing standards which are adopted as building code.

My fiance states that it is equally good to record audio with the headset microphone compared with a budget microphone. I have not enough knowledge about this to argue against it.. What is your take on it ?For more visit Business
