As you all know, I am slowly making efforts to decorate our rental home.  I can barely keep the place clean, but I have this idea in my head that if the decor is on point or more exciting, then I will make more of an effort to keep it clean.  We shall see.  One room that I knew has been lacking is our dining room.  This set was actually given to us from our sister in law cousin’s furniture warehouse store that was closing down 4 years ago!  Yup, we’ve had a TON of our same furniture for 4-15 years (some of it being from college days).  My husband doesn’t want to trade out our furniture until it goes bad as furniture can really add up and get real pricey!  So I’ve settled with that fact, but have found that I can color up or liven up the house with fun accents such as a nicely decorated table and rugs.  I’ve found a lot of great decor pieces from Ross Dress for Less, which I have blogged about here and here.

Here’s a little before look at our bare dining room table…

To liven up the space a bit, I got the Winsdor Overdyed Rug from Rugs USA in Turquoise color.  I decided on the 8’2″ x 9’11” size as I thought it would be perfect size in terms of having just enough space on all sides of the dining table so that when you pull out chairs, the chairs wouldn’t get caught on the rug either.

Since our dining room is open to the front room where I built a desk space, I chose the turquoise color to sort of tie in with the same color family as the chair at my desk space.  And I decorated the table with some pinks to go with the pinks over in the desk space too.  I’m all about tying in colors from different rooms, especially if they are really one big room.

I love that Rugs USA has a ton of rug options and they are always running great specials!  You’ll have to come back later to see how I redid my living room with a rug as well!
