Child Brushing Teeth: How I Got My Kids To Brush Their Teeth For Two Whole Minutes by Utah lifestyle blogger Sandy A La Mode

Confession time here, getting my kids to brush their teeth isn’t the easiest thing to do every night. Well actually, my 5 year old son, is pretty good at it. He has a watch and he knows that 2 minutes of brushing is ideal. The only issue is that I am not quite sure if he is always getting to every area of his mouth. And my 3 year old? It’s kind of a struggle. Sometimes she thinks the toothpaste doesn’t taste good, sometimes she just wants to brush with water, and NEVER does she want to brush for a full 2 minutes (which is what dentists recommend).

But recently, we received the Colgate® Kids Interactive Powered Toothbrush and this has been a game changer.

Colgate® Kids Interactive Powered Toothbrush has a talking brush coach where characters’ voices coach your children through two minutes of brushing and congratulate them when finished. There is a quadrant timer in which characters’ voices tell your children when and where to move to and brush each quadrant of their mouth (Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right). And lastly the characters’ voices inform your children when 2 minutes of brushing is up and congratulate them on a job well done.

When Vivian first got her Minions toothbrush, the talking scared her a little bit. She was intrigued and curious, but didn’t really know what to think about it. But when she saw Austin with this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toothbrush and his ability to pick up the cues right away, it definitely put Vivian more at ease. And now, after 3 days of using the toothbrush, Austin is definitely mastering brushing the different quadrants for a full two minutes, and Vivian is actually BRUSHING HER TEETH FOR TWO MINUTES! She still needs to work on the quadrant thing, but I definitely think she will get there with more of our guidance (I think she is still a bit young to understand it fully). I love that this product makes oral hygiene actually fun for the kids now, instead of a chore!
