{Caution: This post my make you drool on your keyboard}
I want to be a professional food photographer who takes pictures like the following…
found on to be charmed, all i can say is WOW! these lovely desserts were made and photographed by mowie of mowielicious. i totally could use one of those cake stands!
what’s for lunch, honey? i don’t know about lunch, but i will take a cup of mango and passionfruit tiramisu & a bowl of prosecco pears with blood orange mascarpone cream for dessert!
make your steamy kitchen smell delicious with a citrus shrimp cocktail & easter ham with mango ginger glaze
i love how la tartine gourmande has many colors and textures to her photos. gourmande is the french to describe anyone who cannot resist food, i think i’ll be using this word more often to describe myself.
Here is the current state of my food photography:
Some ways I could improve are to lighten up my photos and add fun props like flowers, colorful napkins, trays… yup, I have my work cut out for me…
…for now, I’m just taking one baby step at a time. 🙂
oh yea… evan’s also a gourmande, guess it runs in the family. 😉
(pictures of my nephew were taken by my sister-in-law, can’t wait to see them in 2 days, he’s growing up so fast!!!! the last time i saw evan was when i made cake pops for his 1st birthday party and he was still crawling!)
Oh my word. Yum. That;s all I can really think of.. It’s almost too much to take in as a food lover. I am so hungry now. 😉
Cute blog! I love it.
Xoxo.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Mowie’s blog too. He’s amazing! Oh my gosh and your nephew is absolutely adorable!
Cheers

Wiping the drool off my keyboard to type… yum!! I love the bright, yet soft colors of la tartine gourmande’s photos. Check out sweet fine day’s blog: http://www.flotation9.net/sweetfineday/ . Her food photos are so simple that it’s beautiful. Have fun visiting that cute nephew of yours!!
Evan is so cute and that food looks so yummy!!! I would photograph it all only if I could taste it too!!!
A food photographer sounds like a good idea — especially if you get to munch on the food once you finish. And I think your photography so far is fantastic. More props is always nice (when I photograph what I make, it always looks so blah), but I think those are the things you accumulate little by little over time.
I LOVE cake stands!!!! If I were a collector-type person I would totally collect vintage cake stands.
Good luck and have FUN w/ your future food photograper career! 🙂
Those pictures look amazing and delicious! Your nephew is adorable! 🙂
😀 I wish I had a nephew!!! They look so adorable and fun!!
And oh my, those delicious goods!! I can seriously feel my stomach wanting to jump into the screen.
Such gorgeous pictures. I need to work on my photography skills too. My pictures today were with an iphone because I was too hungry to have the patience to get out my nice camera. haha
Your nephew is adorable. I’ve seen his party featured on some blogs and had been DYING over how cute and perfect every detail was. Even those cake pops! 🙂
Gorgeous! I think your pictures are looking great – taking appetizing photos of food is so, so difficult! I think it’s one of the hardest types of photography.
i’ve always thought your food photos are sooo good! esp. the way you stage them~ they look so professional already. you could really be a food photographer or even just a general photographer because you’re so talented!! i cracked up when you said evan is a gourmande! it really does run in the family! i wish you lived close so he could take advantage of the delicious stuff you’re always making. i guess for now we’ll just have to just take the photos so keep up the good work!
ok, why were u cooking a dozen eggs? and don’t sell yourself short, your food pix made me drool, too.
and i love seeing evan stuffing his face!

@Sheila – Awww thanks Sheila! Hahaha we cooked a dozen eggs for bibimbap! I didn’t eat it all myself, it was split between a good number of people! =)
completely in love with the cake stand – and all the pictures are so gorgeous and bright! you’re a professional already 😉
OMG, his hat…He is too precious!
lol, food warnings are necessary. especially when you have pictures like THAT! omg! those first two with the macarons and…are those cream puffs? whatever they are, i need them.
and that cake stand too. haha.
food photography is fun! just keep practicing! you have a good eye. 😀
I think you’re food photos are fabulous! You’ll do very well, I’m sure. And your nephew is a doll! xo – g

I think your food pics are great. The only real difference is what all photographers have issue with – lighting.
You have to take pictures in the daytime, or get one of those really expensive external flashes. I’ve heard of actual light boxes before, but that is harder with food-on-stove shots.
In any case, I applaud your effort to take pictures of your own. The few that I put up are usually from my blackberry. terrible.
Okay, I’m drooling right now over those desserts…my sweet tooth is aching 🙂 I’ve always heard that food photography is incredibly difficult – that it’s hard to capture food. I think your photos look very nice – just looks like they need a bit more light and you’re set!
SANDY!! These pictures look Amazing! You are such a good photographer already! I will admit though, Evan is such an adorable subject and your food pictures can’t compare to pictures featuring Evan!!
Hang in there Sandy – your pictures are looking really good. In no time you will be up there with the best of them!
I love your photos! I know what you mean though-I’m trying to improve as well. It’s so hard because I’m so impatient and just want to eat whatever I’m making, so that makes staging and getting just the right photo difficult. 😉 p.s. Your nephew is adorable!
Food photographer would be a great job and it looks like you’re on your way. I’m a wannabe photographer and have a long way to go.
ooh, food photography sounds so yummy! i love E!! so cute…
pretty food pics! i wish i could take photos like this!
